PUBLIC
OUTREACH
The
MMSC is dedicated to showing the public the rich multitude
of interesting and beautiful marine life and the various
marine mammal species located off the coast of California.
The MMSC currently has two research boats and a series of
outreach projects designed to educate the public.
SCHOOL
PROJECTS
The
MMSC has a unique program that brings the ocean to the classrooms
of California school children. We provide touch tanks filled
with sea urchins, crabs, fish, starfish, sharks and rays,
allowing the students to interact with marine life up close.
We bring whale and dolphin bones, teeth and baleen for the
children to explore. We also provide slide shows, books,
and crafts to enhance the learning experience.
DOLPHIN
AND WHALE WATCH TRIPS
The MMSC provides private boat trips for
the general public and specifically for teachers and students,
allowing individuals to experience the wonder of the ocean
and the beauty and grace of the wide variety of dolphin
and whale species that share the beautiful Pacific Ocean
with California's inland residents. Contact
us for the most up-to-date information on the next dolphin
or whale watch trip.
SEA CENTER
SUNDAY
Every
six weeks the MMSC opens a portable aquarium to the public.
This aquarium features touch tanks, audio and video displays,
books and crafts. Teachers are able to use this aquarium
as a valuable part of their learning curriculum.
AQUARIUM
The MMSC
is currently attempting to secure financing for the construction
of a permanent Aquarium installation at the Redondo Beach
Pier.
Please contact us if you
would like more information, or if you can help us to realize
this dream.
